Hey my name is Paul Holub, I’m a local Houston area real estate agent and my mission is to help families move and to help make that process a little bit smoother and simpler by providing some great content around the home buying and selling process.
Neighborhoods
So let’s dive right into the Oaks of Parkway, first let’s take a look at where it is located on the map. So if you see right here this is Houston, this is downtown, Galleria, 610 loop and coming up I10 west, here’s beltway 8 and I10 come in south on Eldridge and take a right on Enclave you’ll see is this is the little tiny neighborhood Oaks a Parkway that only has 77 houses in it. So it’s really tiny neighborhood, most of these homes are custom houses and they’re built in the late 80s and early 90s and they have a larger lots. So that’s awesome. It’ll be a little bit dated but some of them updated but obviously a little bit dated so if you’re looking for a fixer-upper got a lot of space then hey that might be a great neighborhood for you.
Taxes
The tax rates pretty low it’s a city of Houston so you’re hovering around about 2.6 percent currently but obviously that can change.
Community
Now it is a part of a larger community, well it’s actually a part, they share the HOA with Briar Hills which is a larger neighborhood right here. So they do have pool, tennis courts, community
areas and and so forth like that.
Price
Talk about price. So obviously price change, so take a look at the link below in the description I’ll have a couple houses and for any homes that are up on the mark for sale in the neighborhood as the tiny neighborhood so that may not be any but if there are I’ll put them in the in the link below and in the search. So for the most part they’re above five hundred thousand because they’re just so large and most
of the houses are over 4,000 square feet that’s how large they are.
Flooding
Now a couple of things about it is it’s good to know that some of the homes did flood during Hurricane Harvey. Now obviously it was a kind of a once-in-a-lifetime kind of event but it’s good to know right here is Buffalo Bayou and Terry Hershey park and so a lot of these homes closer up did flood not all of them but a lot of them did flood over here, so it’s great to know.
You know it’s a blessing to be so close to Terry Hershey because they have so many great trails, there’s paved trails, there’s dirt trails dirt bike trails you know and they can go all over here to the reservoir and it’s a nice little run or bike for you and if you have kids its great to kinda go play and explore just just be kids. So I do like that about the neighborhood but just kind of gets to know.
Schools
Flipping over talking about schools it does go to Barbara Bush Elementary it’s zone there. Barbara Bush is one of the top ten elementary schools in the state of Texas, so it’s a really great school it’s very high achieving, you know high standards kind of school. Westside high school and then West Briar middle school.
So those are the schools there obviously that can change but they’re also a lot of private schools in the area The Village schools not too far away St. John Paul the Second school is elementary and middle school Catholic school that’s a great school just down the street as well so you can probably walk there.
Lifestyle
Okay talking about lifestyle there’s tons of do in the Energy Corridor and West Houston you know they have Memorial City Mall not faraway Town and Country, City Centre, movie theater. Then obviously getting into downtown a little different areas for some great restaurants and nightlife and things to do. But yeah in there is just great community, great churches, religious areas and places of worship.
There’s hiking biking lots of dog parks around in the reservoirs and George Bush and also in the Atticks reservoir. So lots of things to do around the area to keep you busy and great exercise facilities we have a more athletic center they also have 24-hour Fitness just down the way. So lots of things to do.
Another thing is to know about great restaurants thankfully chick-fil-a is not too far away probably just a couple blocks so that’s important. You can probably walk to Chipotle, Sylvia is one of my favorites enchilada houses just down the way as well. There’s a lot of good stuff. So Sylvia’s is kind of here. Beans Cafe is my favorite coffee shop and that’s just kind of right here on the corner of Enclave and Eldridge.
So this lot of good stuff and Kroger is the nearest grocery store and that is right here Briar Forest and there’s lots of great restaurants. So that’s good stuff.
Recap
Yes so this is a great neighborhood Oaks Parkway is a wonderful neighborhood just kind of my final thoughts to wrap it up. If you’re looking for a larger house dont want to commute all the way out from the suburbs and Katy, Sugar Land, Cy Fair, hey this is a great little neighborhood for you. You might have to do a little bit of updating but it’s gonna have a larger lot, lots of space to kind of work with.
So it’s a great neighborhood lots of things you can do, you can bike to work if you’re working the energy corridor, you can walk short commute and there’s some great schools as well.
